A new look and what we are expecting!

I thought it was about time to freshen things up a bit and give this blog a bit more color! So here you a go, a brand new look to my blog. I for one am very happy with how it turned out :)

Now that we notified the family and close friends about the gender of the baby we are expecting (and we got overwhelmed with sweet reactions about it) I thought it would be fun to let you all know! So if you hadn't noticed already ;) Check the upper right corner!

My mojo is back!

After showing my layout from my last post to Cosmo Cricket I got an email back right away asking if I could create some more. Asked, 2 card and an altered item. First I was a bit afraid, I mean me, creating cards? But I think I like what I came up with!

and after those cards I created this frame with a picture of Noa taken about 3 year ago.

I created a layout

It's been a while is an understatement here, it has been more like ages since I created a layout.

On twitter I read that Celine had posted a sketch on her blog and this inspired me to actually get some stash out and play along!

The last days of December - Project Life

Maybe a bit late but lets start by wishing you all a very happy 2012!!

Like I said why wait starting with Project Life till new years? Here are the last 4 weeks of 2011 which I started my Project Life journey with.

The week of December 5 till 11. 

I used the digital kit that I talked about before to print those labels. On the label in the upper left corner I used Studio Calico rub ons and Jenni Bowlin stickers. Because I had serveral pictures from Noa having her hair cut and of the Christmas merket I made those fun and easy to make collages. I will post a small tutorial on how I create those later on.
In the lower right corner I have some printed text on a label telling about this yearly Christmas market in our village. 

Even though the picture on the next page, the two in the lower right corner, are very blurry I used them anyway! They really show Noa and her dad having great fun dancing around the Christmas tree :)

 

The week of December 12 till 18.

On my date label I used a Jenni Bowlin tag wish included both the 12th and the 18th. Stickers are Jenni Bowlin and Cosmo Cricket.

In the middle on the right side you can see a film poster of the movie Arthur Christmas. I took this poster from the internet and printed it, this because I wasn't able to take pictures in the cinema and I wanted to document this anyway.

This week I included a 6x12" page protector. I wanted to add some extra pictures of Noa while ice skating. To fill up this side of the page projector I printed this quote that really spoke to me.

On this side I entered 3 extra pictures of Noa acting silly on the ice. Alpha's from Jenni Bowlin just like the red flower. Heart from Studio Calico.

On this page I slipped a flyer about "Venlo on Ice" into the upper left corner. After ice skating we went out for lunch. I also added the receipt of that lunch to this page. Fun to see what a sandwich costed in 2011 in about 10 years from now.

 

The week from December 19 till 25.

Here I used some punch out glittery snow flakes to add some extra Christmas feeling to the pages.

Again some collages with pictures from Christmas. It was just impossible to pick only 2 or 3. In the middle you see a label with some backery twin around it and a name tag. Next to it I wrote a little about the Christmas gifts we got....Indeed I forgot to take pictures during unwrapping gifts!

 

The week of December 26 till January 1th.

Used some Lawn Fawn stamps to create the dates on this label. Clock rub on from Studio Calico and red flower from Jenni Bowlin.

So that was it for the first 4 weeks of project life!

I will be back again soon to show you my order that came in and to explain to you how I made those collages. Of course there are a lot of differant ways but I will just show you how I make them.

Project Life preparations

Today I would like to share the products I have put together so far to use for my project life 2012.

I made a selection of stickers, embellishments and tags/labels. Put those in a storage tray with compartments. Like I said before, I want to keep this simple for myself so by only having an assortment of product to choose from I keep myself from getting overwhelmed.

 

Let me give you a closer look on what I put in there :)

So this is how I will do it on the items to use inside my project life album. Of course I will ad new items along the way. I actually still have an order on it's way which I will show when it arrives.

While preparing for PL I though...why wait till 2012 starts?! December is a great month to preserve and since a December Daily doesn't appeal to me...I guess because of it's daily concept, I already started Project Life :)

I will show you the first 2 or 3 weeks in a later post. For now I only want to share with you that I started this "adventure" like I said, simple and without stress. Later in this process I will maybe get behind and or come across a week where I didn't took any pictures or where I didn't made any notes, I will go easy on myself and just allow myself to skip a week or maybe even two... For me this is about the memories I DO preserve and not the few I might miss along the way!

New chapter in life, new chapter in scrapbooking

The last couple of years I have done a lot of scrapbooking. I created for designteams, publications in magazines, put together workshops etc etc. I had lots of fun creating it all at that moment but non of them were made to actually presurve our memories. Noa now is six and only her first 1,5 years have really been captured in an album. All the other layouts, mini albums and altered projects can be found in boxes at the attic. 

Being pregnant made me think over stuff. Also my scrapbooking. Things are going to change. I only will be doing the things that really appeal to me, not because I need to do them. I want no stress in my scrapbooking, no more deadlines to make. Wanted to find a fun, easy but jet creative way to finally start to preserve our memories.

Than I tumbled up on this..

 

a back to basic approach to memory keeping. If you haven't heared about Project Life jet just take a look at this video by Becky Higgins.

 

I started to look a bit more around on the internet and found out that non of the Project Life product is available in Europe...jet. In February 2012 the new Project Life items will be available trough amazon.co.uk. February??!! I can't wait till February! I want to start this right away. So I went on surfing the web to find an solution.

First I looked for an alternitive album. I went for the D-ring Album by American Crafts together with differant sizes of their page protectors.

While waiting for my order to arrive I started to read some blogs of the Project Life Creative Team members and I collected a lot of Project Life inspiration on a new Pinterest board.

To created the pages in my album I found out that on the Jessica Sprague site the digital kits for Project Life can be downloaded. So I purshased the next 3 kits.

Cleaning Up -----> BIG SALE :)

So the logical next step for us of course is; work on a nursery! That might sound easier than it is lol.

The only spare room we have was my scraproom, which, after not using it for all those weeks I felt so sick looked like this...

It was time to get busy! Which isn't the easiest thing if you have been told to take it easy. But we are getting there. We started by sorting out and cleaning up (read trow a lot away!) the attic. After installing an Ikea Expedit at the attic we were able to move a lot af my scrap supplies up there. I agreed with myself that only half of the expedit would be filled with my scrap supplies. So...it was about time to clean out my stash BIG TIME! 

Since most of the product is all new I came to the idea to arrange a sort of online garage sale :) Now since stress is no good for pregant ladies (and believe me, I know first hand) I have put togther some "playing" rules.

There are 10 boxes and 5 (cardmaking) kits. Now you need to know that not one box is the same. One box can contain more than the other (first here, first pick). There will be no taking out, swapping between boxes or adding supplies. Down here you find a picture of each box and a whole list of what it contains.

testing testing 1...2...

Well all the clouds in the sky!! I think I never ever skipped so long on blogging! My last post is from September 24...that's...well that's almost 11 weeks ago!

But I have a legitimate reason for my absence ;)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

:D 18 weeks tomorrow!

Between week 6 and 13 I was tired....tired...TIRED! (o and nauseous, let's not forget that!) I really could sleep all day. But; since I am a working mom, nothing of that! So I really dragged myself trough those weeks and was so glad when I started feeling better!! No, I am not complaining, all for the good coss, but still really happy now and not so much a couple of weeks ago ;)

Now you get why I didn't feel like climbing in my keyboard to put a blogpost together. I rather tried to see if our coach was still horizontal every evening ;)

Making sure to post a bit sooner than in 11 weeks again.

From October 3rd on I will be hosting crop evenings (on Monday's) and workshops in my own studio!

Vanaf 3 oktober organiseer in cropavonden (op maandag) en workshops in mijn eigen studio!

Wihiii so excited about this :)

I am still working on putting together a workshop schedule but here are the first two that are already scheduled!

Ik ben nog druk bezig met het samenstelling van een workshopschema, maar hier zijn de eerste twee die al gepland zijn!

Saturday November 5th from 10.00 - 16.00 

In this workshop we will be working in a vintage book using Cosmo Cricket's Odds & Ends. We will be creating a lovely keepsake to keep your special friends save and some secrets save :) Also will we be using the Glubers!

Tijdens deze workshop werken we in een vintage book en gebruiken we de Odds & Ends collectie van Cosmo Cricket. We maken een mooie keepsake om je beste vrienden te eren en ook is er ruimte voor een geheim :) Natuurlijk gebruiken we ook de Glubers! 

 

€ 42,50 per persoon inclusief lunch

Saturday December 10th from 10.00 - 16.00

During this workshop we will be creating a fun mini album with lots of layers and details! We will be working with the lovely Clementine line by Cosmo Cricket. There will be crocheting, flower making with Glubers and fun!

Tijdens deze workshop maken we een leuke mini album met een hoop leuke laagjes en details! We werken met de mooie Clemtine line van Cosmo Cricket. Er wordt gehaakt, bloemen gemaakt met de Glubers en plezier gemaakt!

€ 37,50 per persoon inclusief lunch.

on top of a windmill

Last weekend Julie Comstock from Cosmo Cricket was here in the Netherlands to attend a Trade show. Since I was going to help her out we plannend a fun day sightseeing ahead of it.

Early in the morning on Saturday (my alarm was set at 4.30AM OUCH!) I headed to Amsterdam airport to pick up Julie. I was a bit worried not finding her since her cellphone was flat but, as soon as I walked up to the gate, we almost bumped in to each other! 

At first I thought Julie was a very light traveler but nothing close to that, her suitcase (which contained all the samples and display material for the Trade show) didn't made her layover, which was kind of tight (Lindsay I will never let you book my flight!) Good thing that Julie is a very expieranced traveler; always carry one change in your hand luggage!

Time for Starbucks!!!

Since the sun was shining we decited to head to Amsterdam to enjoy the day!

After a small breakfast we first headed to the Anne Frank house. Even thought it was my second visit; it's so impressive!

From there we walked towards the canals to take a tour through Amsterdam. So much fun playing tourist in your own country! And Julie enjoyed it too I guess, she stayed awake!

 

After the tour we called the airport and found out that Julie suitcase made the journey accross as well! They told us the courier would bring it to Julie's hotel. PHEW!

Time to go and visited some windmills!

Where you find windmills, woodenshoes aren't far away. Who said they are old fashion?!

 

We got a message from the courier that the suitcase would be delivered the next day between 7 and 12 AM.....uhhh the trade show starts at 9AM! I put up my sweetest voiced calling the courier explaining them why we needed that suitcase early in the morning. I guess it worked!

The next morning at 7.55 AM Julie got reunited with here suitcase! We headed over to the tradeshow to teach make & takes with the Glubers. Of course Europe loved the glubers too. Julie and I had lots of fun and I even taught her a couple of Dutch words. All good words of course, if I recall well ;)

 

Julie it was so great having you here and thanks for all the laughters :) So glad to call you my friend!
